Eva wasn't prepared to sing what she regarded as trash pop but insisted on covering most genres of music and this was too much for their tiny minds, after her death one record exec. freely admitted he made a mistake not signing her.You can hear all this on"her story" here on you tube.I'm so glad she held her ground otherwise we wouldn't be blessed with this musical treasure.

Amazing...phenomenal...the perfect voice brings tears to my eyes every time I hear her and I consider myself a very critical ear. Celine Dione is magnificent but Eva Cassidy is indescribable...Heavenly...peaceful...fluid...made by the Gods of Love and Joy...Love it!

I rearly hear such a perfect clear and emotional voice these days ...Listening to her heavenly voice simply makes me numb... what a shame her life was as short as a flash ... hmmmmm ...she didn't deserve to go ahead so soon.

What is a "record company victim"? And what, specifically, did she refuse to do that prevented her for being "discovered"?

One of the most elaborate covers I've ever heard of a song that was originally (and as far as I know, only, ever) done in a very simple style. Beautifully done, surprising, she definitely put her own touch on it. The modern trend is away from the heavy reverb, but I think this holds up very well!

Fame and fortune isn't necessary to have genuine talent and artistry, good Eva for never succumbing to the forces of wealth. Brava.RIP.( look at Whitney Houston, for one,it all ruined her).
